# What are Active and Past cycles?

In the details section of each card on your dashboard you will see two tabs up top, including  “Active Cycles” and “Past Cycles”.

The *Active Cycles* tab can only have two recertification cycles happening at once. This scenario only happens when you have selected the "Get ahead" button below. Every time you renew your state license, board certification, tracker, or registration, your old recertification cycles will move to the *Past Cycles* tab. You will still be able to view all tasks associated with each past cycle, but you will not be able to edit the information.
